Wicked layout - 5 challenges met

I have a educational conference next week, so I wanted to fit in as many challenges as possible before I leave Monday evening.  I was able to meet the challenges for 5 different places with this one sketch!  Six years ago I took my niece and four other students to NYC.  We are from a very small town in rural Oklahoma, so this was quite the adventure for us.  Since then, I've returned to NYC two more times!  While on this trip, we went to Behind the Emerald Curtain which is a backstage look into the production of Wicked.  We also saw Wicked the next night.  It was very insightful and interesting.  I would recommend it to anyone in NYC on a Saturday if you are a fan of the show.

Challenges met:

Color My Heart  - use the colors pear, sunset, lagoon, and gypsy
Heart 2 Heart  - Up, Up, and Away (the broom die cut)
Bitten by the Bug 2 - Travel challenge
Stuck On U Sketches  - Going somewhere die cut challenge
Berry 71 bleu - 3 different pattern papers

Supplies:

Paper:  CTMH Hooligans
Tools:  Cricut Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge (hat and broom)
Stamps:  CTMH alphabet stamp
Ink:  CTMH pear, sunset, lagoon, and gypsy
I also used an old sketch from scrap sketch

Tag challenge and Mojo Monday sketch

December is a very busy time of year, so I like to get a head start on Christmas cards while I'm on summer break.  I made this one to meet three different challenges.  Both Christmas Card Challenge and Craft Hoarders Anonymous wanted tags used, so I made one using my cricut.  I also used the weekly sketch over at Mojo Monday.  Since we are having temperatures close to 100 these next couple of days here in Oklahoma, thinking about Christmas is helping me stay cool.

Supplies:

Paper:  DCWV Holiday Collection stack (I love these stacks!!!!)
Tools:  Cricut Joys of the Season cartridge and Fiskars scallop punch
Stamps:  HOTP Christmas Stamp and Punch and Christmas Greetings (sentiment inside)
Ink:  CTMH cranberry
Extras:  ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon

Mojo Monday card

I live in a very small community, and I've been teaching at the high school for 14 years.  Yesterday was a very sad day for our community.  First I heard the news that one of my former students and her niece (whose mom is also a former student) were in a horseback riding accident.  The little girl was killed and the aunt is still missing.  A little later the news of the passing of a well-known and respected lady.  I've taught several of her grandkids and I'm friends with the family.  In light of these tragic events, I decided I needed to make sympathy cards to send to various members of both families.  Here is the first one.  I used the sketch challenge at Mojo Monday for this first one.

Supplies:

Paper:  Very old Crate paper and MM paper
Die cut:  Crate paper border
Stamp:  HOTP Heartfelt Greetings
Ink:  CTMH Cocoa
Extras: Flowers and brad from my stash

Heart 2 Heart and Stuck On U Sketches layout

Another layout of my beautiful little girl for two challenges.  On Heart 2 Heart the challenge was to use blue.  I might have gone a little overboard...LOL.  I also used the current sketch challenge on Stuck on U Sketches but turned it since my picture is horizontal instead of vertical.  These pictures were taken on the first day of school in 2009 which is when my daughter started PreK.

Supplies:

Paper: CTMH Magnifique collection
Ink:  CTMH Lagoon
Tools:  We R Memory Keepers mini 8 punch
Extras:  Prima rhinestones, ribbon and flowers from my stash

Pals layout for 3 challenges

This layout is of my pretty little girl and our former pastor.  He was the pastor of our church for several years and loved my daughter.  This layout is for three different challenges.  I used the sketch from Creative Scrappers, the color challenge from Color My Heart, and the challenge to ink it from Craft Hoarders Anonymous.  This picture was taken in 2009 so my little girl has grown up a lot, and sadly, our preacher moved away too, but at least I have these adorable picture to remember him by.

cards

I've been in a card making mood.  This first card is made from my HOTP kit featuring The Stolen Moments paper and die cuts.  The other two cards are lifts from the Cricut magazine and used scraps of paper that I've hoarded.

Zoology LO

I finished up another layout from my kits that I had put together for scrapping last weekend.  This one I scraplifted from a CTMH Idea Book.  A couple of weeks ago I was going through my memory cards looking for pictures to print with the Shutterfly coupon I had.  I came across over 100 pictures from May 2009 that I had never printed off.  These are some of those pictures.  They are of the OKC zoo and my son's 2nd grade field trip.

Supplies:

Paper:  DCWV Safari Kids Stack and cardstock from my stash
Stamps:  CTMH star struck, adventure, Life's a Jungle, and alphabet
Ink:  CTMH cocoa
Extras:  gold Stickles

Wild Ones LO

Over last weekend I scrapped with a group of friends.  I was able to complete 20 pages by having layout kits already to go.  I didn't finish all the kits I put together over the weekend, so I've been finishing them up this week.  My children have gone to camp, so I have the next couple of days to spend in my scrapbook room instead of playing chauffeur for them.  This page came from a CTMH Idea Book from 2009 and so did the pictures.  I changed things a little bit, but basically stuck to the book.

Supplies:

Paper - cardstock from stash
Stamps:  CTMH Cocktail alphabet, In the Wild
Ink:  CTMH Cocoa, Slate and desert sand
Extras:  Prima jewels and Darice fibers
Tools:  Cricut Accent Essentials (arrow) and Birthday Bash (bracket)

Lake layout and card

Before I left for NYC last Friday, I finished up the July 2013 monthly scrapbookers kit from Paper Wishes.  I love these kits because the force me to do a little more challenging of layouts.  These pictures were from a trip to the lake in 2009 of my daughter.

Bacon-wrapped Jalapeno Bites

Besides scrapping, I love to cook and bake, and I love trying new recipes.  Tonight I tried one I found on Pinterest.  It was super easy and very tasty too.

Ingredients
  • 8 chicken tenders, flattened and cut in two
  • 3-ounce package softened cream cheese
  • 1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and finely chopped
  • 8 slices bacon, cut in half

Instructions
  1. Dab ½ teaspoon (more or less) of cream cheese on top of each chicken tender. Sprinkle a scant ¼ teaspoon of peppers over cream cheese. Fold or roll chicken to enclose cream cheese mixture. Wrap each roll with one piece of bacon and secure with a toothpick.
  2. Grill until bacon is brown and crispy on both sides.

Mine wasn't spicy at all, but I guess it will depend on the jalapenos.  Here is a picture and the website where I found to recipe.

Mojo Monday card

One more card for me today!  This one used the Mojo Monday sketch for this week.

Supplies:

Paper:  Imaginisce
Extras:  Felt butterflies (Creative Impressions), ribbon from stash, felt dragonfly cut from a border, HOTP dazzles (banner and sentiment), and decorative straw (Queen and Co.)

How Lovely? layout

This is kind of a silly layout of my daughter.  She is wearing those fake teeth that a disgusting, but I wanted to play on the fact that usually I focus on how cute she is.  I used a sketch from Stuck On U Sketches and used the color challenge from Color My Heart for this layout.  The larger journalling on the half-circle reads:  Emma loved wearing these fake teeth.  She thought it was so funny.  Even though they were way too big for her little mouth I couldn't convince her to throw them away.  And the journaling on the smaller stamped image reads:  I normally do layouts to show how cute Emma is, but not this time!

Supplies:

Paper:  CTMH Dream Pop
Stamps:  CTMH Floral Delights and Frame of Mind
Inks:  CTMH Sunset, Creme Brulee, and Crystal Blue

The Friday Mashup card

Since I didn't get to scrap last weekend because of my daughter playing softball all weekend, and I won't get to scrap this weekend since I'm going to NYC!!!, I thought I better get as much done during the week as possible.  This card is for The Friday Mashup! weekly challenge of stripes and/or movable parts.  I wasn't really sure how to make something movable so I just kept the tag with the sentiment at the top of the card loose on the baker's twine.

Supplies:

Paper:  DCWV Cherry Limeade stack
Stamps:  HOTP Heartfelt Greetings
Ink:  CTMH gypsy
Extras:  American Crafts baker twine, HOTP Dazzles, Michael's gem
Template:  HOTP 15 Lovely Labels

My Scraps and More layout

Yesterday I found a Facebook page that challenges people to scrap 50 pages before buying new supplies (adhesive, photos, and monthly kits don't count), and I thought this would be perfect for me to try this summer.  As I've mentioned before in my posts, I'm desperately trying to get rid of my old stuff in my stash which has been relatively easy.  I love paper, but I'm not really a trendsetter in technique.  I still use stickers and I like the clean and simple look usually.  So here is my first layout in the 50 pages challenge.  It is also for the My Scraps & More sketch #83.  I hadn't ordered pictures for a long time because I'm so far behind in my scrapping.  While looking for some pictures to have developed, I came across some pictures from 2009 that I hadn't printed yet.  These are two of my son from those pictures.  The journaling reads:  I love this sweet little face.  You can be such a sweetheart but have a little mischievous side too.

Supplies:

Paper:  Very old Daisy D  (anybody else remember that brand?)
Stickers:  Daisy D to match the pp (corner) and Sassafrass Lass (title sticker)
Extras:  Ribbon from stash

Happy Birthday card for Cortney

I met two challenges with this card for my niece Cortney.  I have 5 nieces...Amanda, Cortney, and Bailey who grew up in the same small town that I live in, Dillyn and Dilayni live across the state so I don't get to see them very often.  Cortney, who just finished her sophomore year in college, has a birthday this month, so I thought I would make her a cute card.  I used the sketch from The Pro Players and I made a car using my cricut for the Bitten by the Bug 2 challenge.

Supplies:

Paper:  Echo Park Hello Summer and scrap cardstock
Stamps:  CTMH Thoughtful Seasons (outside sentiment)  Kelly Panacci Sentiments (inside sentiment)
Inks:  CTMH black
Extras:  Chipboard shapes American Crafts Dear Lizzy
Cricut:  Paisley cartridge

Peachy Keen Stamps Challenge layout

I loved the photo challenge at Peachy Keen this week.  I used the photo and colors for a 4th of July layout using pictures from 2009.  Not only am I behind in scrapping my pictures, I also like to use older products.  I have so much stuff that I've collected over the years that a few years ago I made myself not buy anything except paper until I get my stash under control.  This is a perfect example.  I also used a sketch from my stash that I printed several years ago.

Supplies:

Paper:  a stack, I'm guessing DCWV but not sure
Sticker:  Pebbles Inc.
Extras:  star buttons and printed ribbon from my stash

Simple Pleasures Layout

This layout was originally intended for the Berry 71 Bleu inspirational board challenge, but I was having a hard time with it.  I went to my idea books and found a layout in a CTMH book that help me with this layout, so I won't be posting it over there.  These pictures are from our annual trip to the lake for the Christmas in July celebration.  This was 2009.

Ink:  CTMH Bamboo, Olive, and Crystal Blue

Freshly Made Sketches #137 card

I took yesterday off from scrapping and went to my last Sister Act.  Oh my goodness, that might have been the funniest musical that I've seen.  We all laughed so hard.  I would highly recommend seeing it if you ever have to opportunity.

Since I took Sunday off from my craft room and computer, I had some catching up to do today.  I made this card for my daughter to give to her best friend tomorrow.  It was originally for two challenges.  I used the Freshly Made Sketch #137 and the cricut challenge to use flowers from the Fantabulous Cricut but was too late to enter it in that one.

Supplies used:

Paper:  Kaiser Craft
Cricut cartridge:  Accent Essentials (for the layered flower)
Stamps:  CTMH Sentimental Delights
Ink:  CTMH black
Extras:  two flowers and a pearl (Kaiser Craft)

Once Upon a Sketch May 2014 layout

For the May challenge at Once Upon a Sketch I had to use a sketch and include at least 3 lines of journalling about anything.  If you haven't notices yet, I'm a pretty simple scrapbooker.  I tend to go for clean lines and not a lot of "extras" on my pages.  Very rarely do I make a layout with only one pictures.  I tend to take a lot of pictures, and it would take me forever if I only scrapped one picture at a time.  However, for this particular event, I only had one picture, so the May sketch was perfect.  This picture is of my niece Cortney and I waiting for the musical Wicked to start back in 2009.

And here is a picture of the sketch I used:

My journaling reads:  It's wonderful to get to be a part of my nieces' lives.  I get to teach them, watch them play sports, and share special memories with them.  Here, Cortney and I are getting ready to watch Wicked.

Supplies:

Paper:  Emerald Garden stack DCWV, cardstock from DCWV Linen Closet stack, metallic paper from Metallic Paper pack from Walmart
Die cuts:  Cut from the Emerald Garden stack
Ribbon:  Really Reason Ribbon monthly pack
Flowers/bling:  Say it in pearls by Prima
Stickles in white

CTMH Pro Player layout

Last night a couple of the girls and I got together and scrapped for a few hours.  I had a few page kits put together from the last scrap day that I needed to finish up.  This is one of those layouts.  I cased a layout in the 2013 Fall//Winter Idea book from CTMH just changing up the stamps.  I took this picture of my son back in 2009 on his last day at camp.  I can't believe how much he's grown!

Supplies:

CTMH paper:  ProPlayer, slate cardstock, ruby cardstock
CTMH accents:  ProPlayer assortment (dark blue arrows)
CTMH ink:  Twilight and ruby
CTMH stamps:  ProPlayer, Alphabets, and Boys at Play

This next layout was a monthly kit from www.scrapjammies.com from 2012.  I stopped my subscription last year, so I don't even know if they are still doing monthly kits.  I thought this kit was perfect for these pictures from a trip to the lake back in 2009!  (I'm a little behind in scrapping my pictures...LOL)  These pages are for my son's album.

In the Garden card

It's my first post on my blog!  This makes me so excited.  I made this Thank You card last night using the Heart 2 Heart Challenge and the Clean-and-Simple Challenge #196 from The Paper Players which was a sketch.  The flowers and sentiment are a stamp from CTMH called A Flowering Bunch which was a stamp of the month from 2013 I think.  I kept the card simple by not adding anything except some colors on the flowers from some chalk pencils that I've had FOREVER.  I hope this is the first of many posts for me.
